ribbon pearl necklace tutorial.

if you liked my previous refashion post, you will love making this necklace!
1. will you will need a broken pearl strand and ribbon made out of fabric. but the possibilities are endless, you can use any kind of chain or even beads! and for the ribbon you can make it yourself in any size.
2. secure both ends of the pearl strand using small beads. i couldn't find any beads (i know! so not me) so i used grommet eyes instead.
3. sew the strand using the grommet eye onto the back of the ribbon.
that's all there is to it! so easy right? enjoy! now it's time to make one for mommy!

1 dress = a fab skirt + ribbon pearl necklace.

for some reason i can not let go of this dress because this is the dress sophie wore after her dedication. plus it's so pretty and girly. this is size 3-6 so definitely not going to fit her even if i tried to. it also has a small stain so i can't give it away either. so i guess that leaves me no choice but to... refashion!!!! this is such an easy diy. i love making sophie's clothes last longer.
the other day i turned the bottom half of the dress into a skirt with an elastic waist. no tutorial on that because it's like a no brainer. i did try putting the bow back on but that didn't work out just because the material is so slippery. being me i hang on to all the scrap fabrics. today sophie broke the pendant on one of her faux pearl necklaces. ding! i just got inspired to make a bow necklace. tutorial coming up!

instant infinity scarf.

i bought this scarf  like 8 years ago, never wore it because it's too long for a chunky scarf. and now i see everyone wearing it. i also see a lot of the infinity scarves...
so i altered it a bit. this was a fun and easy diy.
(yes i actually did it standing up in front of my cam like a crazy person) and tada!
that's all there is to it. mwah! goodnight.

d.i.y. denim necklace.

remember this post where i mentioned that i made a flower necklace inspired by the denim bag i made? well i finally managed not forget taking a pic and here it is!
so easy! all you need is some scrap fabric and chain.
fold the fabric lengthwise and do a basic hem. make sure you leave the threads loose on both sides and pull to gather fabric (like a ruffle). form a flower and sew as you go to set the shape of the flower. i used a paper fastener for the center and to attach to the chain. and that's all there is to it! don't mind my dora scissors - i mean sophie's scissors.

p.s. i made this denim bag.

finally got to this. i've been wanting to take pix of this bad i made. a week ago, sophie and i made our very own denim bag from p.s. i made this. so. easy. and i finally used my sewing machine! and my brand spanking new rotary cutter! woohoo. wasn't planning on doing this project because i didn't have a long chain. but what do you know i was at home depot and it's chains galore. this is my second hardware-bought diy from p.s. i made this. just so you know, i was in the middle of a diy bathroom renovation. hence the hardware errands. (yeah i am not a crazy person who frequents hardware stores for fun.) my first one was this which i still have to take a pic. oh nevermind, i gave it to my niece, angel. this bag is so much fun! and so many pockets!(original post Jan. 28, 2011 at AYAZINE)

sweater dress.

1. find an old sweater. in this case my shrunken cashmere sweater.
2. i used one of sophie's dress as a sizing guide.
3,4. mark & cut. wasn't sure about the sleeves, if i could even make it. so i just made a straight cut. then decided to use the leftover sleeves of the sweater to make a smaller ones. sewing was kinda tricky but all in all easy.
5. i did it! i made sure that all the edges had the original seams. i thought it was very plain and boring for a girl's dress so...
6. we sewed some buttons and a flower i made from a ribbon to embellish the dress. (my lovely assistant picked the buttons) i was trying to do a faux necklace look.
tada!  so cute!
